# Historia

Nueva York es una de las ciudades más icónicas del mundo, con una historia que abarca más de cuatro siglos. Desde sus humildes orígenes como puesto comercial holandés, la ciudad ha crecido hasta convertirse en el centro financiero, cultural y artístico del planeta.

### La fundación holandesa

Los colonos holandeses fundaron Nieuw Amsterdam en el extremo sur de Manhattan, estableciendo un puesto comercial para la Compañía Holandesa de las Indias Occidentales.

### Nace Nueva York

Los ingleses conquistaron la colonia holandesa y la rebautizaron como New York en honor al Duque de York, hermano del rey Carlos II de Inglaterra.
